Vancouver Bus

Bus going to the Airport in Vancouver!

Taking the bus is a cheap way to get from Vancouver Airport to Vancouver’s many suburbs. This page offers a overview of how to take the bus from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to different Lower Mainland destinations, including Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam and North Vancouver.

*Important Update #1* Effective September 7, 2009:

Most Bus services to YVR have now been replaced by the Canada Line Skytrain. All information on this page now includes that change - in many cases, connecting Skytrain services are the simplest and quickest ways of getting to these destinations. To find out more about getting on the Skytrain at Vancouver Airport see our new page on the Skytrain.

*Important Update #2* Effective January 18, 2010: All fares below include the new YVR AddFare which is a $5 fare in addition to the regular zone fare. Please note: The YVR AddFare applies only to travel originating from Vancouver Airport. It is not collected for travel to YVR.

Vancouver Airport Bus Service to Richmond

Skytrain Canada Line - Vancouver Airport

Vancouver to Richmond Skytrain!

Skytrain Canada Line. The new above-ground rail link connects Vancouver Airport with downtown Richmond. To reach central Richmond, ride the Skytrain from YVR Airport Station to Bridgeport Station, and then get off and connect to a Skytrain with the destination "Richmond Brighouse". This line makes several stops before reaching No. 3 Rd and Saba Rd in Richmond. Cost: $7.75, and travel time is only about 20 minutes.

  • If you need to get from YVR to Richmond or downtown Vancouver in the nightime/early morning hours between 1:29 AM and 3:39 AM, the N10 Bus still operates with pick-ups and drop-offs every approx every 30 minutes at the Domestic Arrivals Level 2.

Taking the Bus from Vancouver Airport to Burnaby

(There are many destinations in Burnaby – for this route we chose the Metropolis at Metrotown Shopping Center).

This can now be a simple all-Skytrain journey: Depart Vancouver Airport on the Canada Line Skytrain to Waterfront Station, and then connect to the Expo Line Skytrain for the ride to Metrotown Station. Cost: $9.00, and it takes about 50 minutes travel time.

Or, Skytrain from YVR to Bridgeport Station, and then transfer downstairs to Bus #430 at Bay 5 to Metrotown Station. Travel time is comparable to the option above, depending on traffic.

Transit Bus from Vancouver Airport to New Westminster

Here's the new "busless" option: Take the Skytrain to Waterfront Station. From there you transfer to the Expo Line SkyTrain and ride to New Westminster Station (Columbia and 8th St, New Westminster). Cost: $9.00, and travel time is around 1 hr.

Translink Bus Route: Vancouver Airport - North & West Vancouver

  • Skytrain & Seabus from Airport to North Vancouver (Lonsdale Quay Market): Canada Line Skytrain to Waterfront Station, and then transfer to the Seabus (passenger ferry across Burrard Inlet) for scenic sailing to Lonsdale Quay Market. Cost: $9.00, travel time is about 1 hr.

Vancouver Airport Bus Service to Surrey

Actually, to get to Surrey you dont have to use the Vancouver Airport bus service, you now don't need to take the bus at all! Start by taking the Canada Line Skytrain from YVR Airport Station to Waterfront Station. Next, transfer to the SkyTrain Platfrom marked “Expo Line to King George”. Cost for this trip is $11.00, and it will take about 1 hr 10 minutes travel time.

You can ride this SkyTrain all the way to the end of the line at King George Station (King George Hwy & 100 Ave , Surrey), or get off 1 stop before that at Surrey Central Station which offers a more convenient connection to suburban Surrey bus routes.
